The ctbin tools has been modified so that always a single counts cube is written on output. The original workings (one cube per observation) can be achieved by putting an outer loop around ctbin that loops over observations.

Now, all events will be merged into a single cube, and the livetime, ontime and deadc attributes will be set accordingly. The pointing definition is still stored in the counts cube file, yet as soon as two observations with different pointings will be merged the information is meaningless. By definition, the pointing information is now simply the centre of the counts cube.

In the future, pointing information should be removed from the counts cube (see #1285).
