Description
According to Monica, there are issues with conda on Ubuntu 18.04 that prevent a proper installation of ctools via conda on this OS. A note on this issue should be added to the “Known Issues” section.
Hi Jürgen,
Thanks so much for helping me out with this!
After battling for a while and reading different threads I understood
that the underlying problem is an anaconda one with Ubuntu 18.04:
https://github.com/ContinuumIO/anaconda-issues/issues/11371
This problem is around since 2019 and newer versions only make
it worse, and no fix in sight looking at recent posts.
That is why I have requested to install Ubuntu 20.04 in my institute PC,
after discussions with other CTA colleagues who tell me everything
works better in that version.
This will happen in the next couple of days so I will give ctools a new try.
In the meantime, I was able to install everything without problems on
my mac laptop, and follow all the tutorials.
I will let you know of the outcome with my new Ubuntu version.
Best,
Monica
